MURALS
I am an artist whose work is large scale, collaborative and usually in public and community settings. Murals are usually defined as an artwork that becomes part of an architectural structure. While some of the artwork falls into this defination others are temporary and moveable. Since 1985 I have completed many murals in the UK and internationally, ran a HN Public Arts from 1995 - 2000, and from 2003 the convenor of The Prestonpans mural trail which now has over 35 murals. The process of a designing a mural that is painted by myself (with or without assistants), involves others and managing murals/public art that is created by other artists, usually involves constructing an initial design, a period of development/consultation, then the actual painting. This can happen within a month or over many years.
