PRESTONPANS TAPESTRY

It has been a very busy since its launch of The Prestonpans Tapestry.

Over 260 stitchers, 10 million stitches, 104 metres long, 25,000 hours of work and now an estimated

13,000 people have seen the tapestry.

The question I get most asked is "Where is the tapestry?" well...

Up and coming dates are

May 7th - June 5th Kirkcaldy Museum & Art Gallery
June 8th - 31st August(including being in the Edinburgh festival fringe) @ St Mary's Episcopal Cathedral, Edinburgh

104 metre tapestry, that tells the story of the journey of Jacobite Rebellion from Rome to The Battle of Prestonpans.

It has involved many in its production. My job has been to design the104 panels that stitchers can use to tell the story.

Creating the visual story that is based on research mainly from the book Battle of Prestonpans 1745 by Martin Margulies.

Although I have used a much wider net, Martin's Book has been the main inspiration. Each panel is being stitched by

hand in USA, Australia, France and following the journey throughout Scotland. It has involved 260 stitchers,

10 million stitches, 3000 metres of thread and been produced in Scotland, England, Ireland, USA, Australia and France.

Tapestry on Facebook

I have kept a photographic record as it has progressed. See its creation, launch in Prestonpans,

its world Premier in Eriskay, in Dunblane cathedral and many other settings across Scotland.

You can also see many of my previous murals, illustration work, Three Harbours and current

paintings on Facebook.

You are invited to a private view of an exhibition of recent work by Andrew Crummy which is entitled " Skyscapes, Portraits and Still Lifes". This recent work, is in fact from Artschool Cockenzie where I often paint along with those that come to the Dropin class, Still Life classes, Summer School and Saturday Workshops. This exhibition is about my own paintings.
In April this year I took over the studio space at Cockenzie Business Centre. Since then as well as doing Art classes, I have been busy with various projects including the Battle of Prestonpans Tapestry, various book illustration publications and as Convenor of The Prestonpans Mural Trail. At the Private View I will have on display bits of the Tapestry, book publications and various other bits (for one night only). So please come along and have a look.

HELEN DUNCAN

The Helen Duncan pardon press story continues to grow with recent articles in the Glasgow Sunday Herald and now The Sunday Express. The extraordinary press coverage kicked off with a Glasgow Herald piece, where Mary Martin (Helen Duncan's grandaughter) was pictured laying a sprig of herbs of The Witches Gestalt,Prestonpans at Haloween Remembrance last October that led to the Edinburgh Evening News and Scotsman covering the story, which led onto BBC Newsnight (and website), then it was News at Ten (but it got pulled), then that led to The Guardian Leader, then Sevirins Carrels article, which kicked start the petition over xmas, then it went crazy in Jan with worldwide press coverage, with Reuters and PA picking it up, including the NBC/MSN poll of 16,000 and the 70 articles worldwide, plus the 300 + blogs, then CNN and now Channel Four News.
